First, some details: This new ocean-side beach cottage has three bedrooms, sleeps eight;two full baths, including master bath; air- conditioned, washer-dryer; filly equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher, microwave; Direct TV, DVD, WI-FI.
This picture shows the the porch with its inviting rocking chairs. This is probably our favorite "room." You'll spend hours here relaxing, talking, reading.
At ground level on the right is the enclosed outside shower with hot and cold water. Great for cleaning up after the beach. There's also a hose by the stairway to get sand off your feet. Look closely and you can see the "boardwalk" that leads toward the beach which is only fifty paces, less than a minute away.

View from the beach through the dunes. The setting sun is giving a pinkish color. A great feature of the house is that we have a southern exposure so the sun comes up over the ocean on the left and sets on the right. You get to see the sunrise and sunset over the water most of the year. Plus the sun warms the beach all day. It doesn't go behind you as most of the East Coast beaches.

We count our blessings that we have an unobstructed view of the ocean, the dolphins, pelicans. This is the view from the porch and any window in the front of the house.

Shrimp boats go back and forth just offshore. Kind of picturesque. Often you can see dolphins swimming in the wake. Pelicans also like to take advantage of the fish that are dredged up.

Our friends enjoying the great weather.
The water in the summer is about 80 degrees. The right temperature to be refreshing without giving you a shock when you first get in. And kids love it! We have to drag our grand children out. In addition to being warm, the water is usually much calmer than at the beaches which face East ... the normal Atlantic beaches. Days when the water is too rough for the kids are very rare on Oak Island.
